Box spring bases

A box spring base gives a bed from our collection the comfort of a box spring, while you keep the frame. The base sits inside the bed frame, where the slatted base would go, and you add a mattress of your choice on top. You choose between Bonell and pocket springs, and between a height of 20 or 30 cm.

Bonell or pocket springs?

The difference lies in the springs. Bonell is a classic spring system with firm, durable support. Pocket springs reduce movement as you sleep, so your rest is more settled. If you want that familiar, firm feel, the Cleo with Bonell springs is the one to choose. It fits the metal and wooden bed frames in our collection.

A box spring base for The Loft

For this four-poster bed there are two sprung bases with pocket springs. They are made to measure for the bed frame, fit it exactly and need no extra legs. The Passionata is 20 cm high. At 30 cm, the Elanza is the tall version, with pocket springs in seven zones that spread your weight evenly.

Size, colour and lifespan

Every base is made to measure, so that it fits the bed frame exactly. You choose a width of 70 to 120 cm and a length of 200, 210 or 220 cm. All three come in Nika taupe 12, and they are built to last up to 20 years.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put a box spring in a metal bed?

Yes, that is exactly what these bases are for. You place them in the bed frame, where a slatted bed base would otherwise go. That way you keep the metal frame you love and gain the sleeping comfort of a box spring.

How much higher will you sleep with a box spring base?

With a 20 cm base you lie on average around 10 cm higher than on a standard slatted base or sprung wire base. With the 30 cm Elanza you are a little higher still. The higher you lie, the easier it is to get in and out of bed.

Do I still need a mattress?

Yes. A box spring base replaces the slatted base, not the mattress. You always add a mattress, and the choice is yours. Our mattresses come in widths from 70 to 200 cm, and for each model you can read which sleeping position it is intended for.
